The Fish House on Lake Superior
Sometimes one just needs a break from the city life. We, of course, were suppose to spend time this week in Germany in a small Bavarian town where folks still wear traditional clothing and drink beer in shade while celebrating the spring (Maifest). But, since the volcanic ash of Iceland triggered a world-wide airport shut-down, we decided to go up north instead.
A Fox without Socks
On the way up, we stopped at Gooseberry Falls...I happened to be walking on the trail to the rest stop when I spotted this fox watching a deer. Talk about great Minnesota adventures...the fox let me get close enough to snap a picture before trotting off.
The coastline of Lake Superior is just amazing.
Minnesota's pebble beach
This was a fun place to go agate hunting and just listen to waves crashing on shore.
The downtown area is full of speciality stores that embody the up north feeling. The food is great and art is inspiring.
Look, a book dedicated to the pesky trolls...
It was nice to take a break from some of the nonsense City living brings...if you know what I mean...
The break gave me a chance to re-energize, and the backdrop inspired me to work on a song or two ... here's one of the lines (dedicated to my family):
Eating at "My Sister's Place"
Old comforts we won't forget,
Watching movies past midnight
Relaxing from the city's sweat.
A scenic view of Lake Superior, taken on our way back to the Twin Cities...
